Hybrid membrane and adsorption gas separation facility

Laboratory scale hybrid gas separation facility with a capacity of up to 1.0 m³(STP)/h featuring a gaspermeation membrane step (operating pressure up to 100 bar(a)) and a multi-bed adsorption step  (operating pressure between 0.5 and 20 bar(a)). This unit has been used for the development of our HylyPure® process for the energy-efficient extraction of high-quality hydrogen co-transported in the natural gas grid.

Features

  • Trace-heated membrane module mounted on an individual rack completely with pressure relief valve and electronic temperature and pressure sensors
  • Single adsorber with a geometrical working volume of 4 liters suitable to house layers of different adsorption materials (activated carbon, zeolites, silica gels)
  • Cooling/heating jacket for isothermal or adiabatic adsorption and 10 temperature sensors evenly distributed along the adsorber bed
  • Connectable to gas mixing and analysis station
  • Fully automated adsorption operation for the precise assessment of adsorption equilibria, kinetics and breakthrough as well as for simulated PSA sequences
